| How the Labour Camp Was Established |
|
On the eve of the second massacre in the ghetto in Peresieka, which took place on August 8, 1942, the best craftsmen were issued new labour certificates and transferred to Korelichskaya street (Minskaya str. today) where the workshops had already been established.
The new labour camp was surrounded by a three meter high wooden fence with two rows of barbed wire and was guarded by the local police dressed in black uniforms. The prisoners were not allowed to leave the camp territory, worked in the workshops in the nearby buildings where they repaired uniform for the Wehrmacht, made clothes for the German civil administration and for the population of the town and also furniture. |
