Bielski Detachment

The only hope for the Novogrudok labour camp prisoners to find rescue was the Jewish partisan detachment under Tuvia Bielski. The exhibition presents the structure of the detachment and the plan of the camp site in the forest, photos of the commanders and partisans – men and women, lists of those who perished.

The existence of the Jewish partisan detachment in the area of Novogrudok became possible thanks to support provided by the local population – five Righteous Gentiles and many known and unknown Belarusians and Poles who rescued Jews during the Holocaust, and thanks to  cooperation with commanders of Soviet partisan detachments and of the Polish Home Army (AK).
